Check out this new article from one of my favorite science mags, The New Scientist. Jim Giles does the math on what eating less meat could save us in terms of cold hard cash. His conclusion? Choosing to cut back on the tenderloins could “wipe $20 trillion off the cost of fighting climate change.” Read it yourself and let us know what you think!

  1. Price of Meat Says:

I’m so glad to have found this blog!

Hope to hear more about the impact of meat on global warming.

It’s too bad that the study about the $20 trillion we could save by reducing consumption of meat isn’t more mainstream. The world could definitely use $20 trillion for many other things.

My thoughts are…governments, businesses, or nonprofits should invest in education on low-meat or meatless diets.

It’s not easy eating less meat when one has eaten it their entire lives. But if people were informed about the consequences and of alternative, tasty meals, there could be a real cultural shift towards our attitude towards meat…which generally has been hands-off. Then finally government can address livestock in climate policy.
